A passport to create international pathways for Victorian music businesses

The Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO), in partnership with the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) and Association of Artist Managers (AAM), open applications for the Fast Track Fellowship program - an international professional development opportunity for Victorian music business professionals.

Open to Victorian music artist managers and independent labels, the Fast Track Fellowship facilitates international pathways by relocating selected participants overseas to immerse themselves at an international music company for a two month period.

“The Fast Track Fellowship was an invaluable experience. Not only an opportunity to further my career, but to create international opportunities for my artists. Being based in London and spending time in Europe from April to June this year allowed me to build many new connections and gain greater insight into the industry in the UK and Europe. Sitting among the many managers at ATC Management, who oversee the careers of artists such as PJ Harvey and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds as well as many, many others was truly inspiring and reaffirming.” Danae Effern, Little Giant Agency – 2019 Fast Track Fellowship recipient, placement at ATC Management, London.

The Fast Track Fellowship program includes return flights, visas and insurance as well as financial support for accommodation, on ground logistics, per diems and registration fees for professional industry events. The two 2020 recipients will be selected by an independent industry-based advisory panel.

Sharing their experiences with other Victorian music businesses and peers, the fellowship recipients from previous years reported immediate increased business activity and outstanding career development for themselves and the artists they represent. “The program was a truly exceptional way to quickly build knowledge and new strategy, develop new networks, and create international business opportunities. On a personal level was a truly life changing chapter in my career, with open access to global ideas and strategy, and creation of new skills that are harder to learn from a traditional education model.” Rhianon Damas, Two Shoes Records – 2019 Fast Track Fellowship recipient, placement at Nettwerk Music Group (Canada and Germany).
