Play On Victoria

Regional Victorian music fans can rejoice with the return of live sounds in favourite outdoor venues across the state with Play On Victoria – a series of events taking place on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October, as part of the Victorian Government’s work to safely bring live music back to the state.

Celebrating the highly anticipated return of live music across regional Victoria, the musicians will step into the spotlight  on outdoor stages at venues in Avenel, Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Geelong, Gippsland, and Warrnambool as part of the Victorian Government’s vaccinated economy rollout.

Regional Victorians, who have been fully vaccinated are invited to experience live music in local venues on the last weekend of October. This massive outdoor series includes a laneway party outside Volta in Ballarat, and outdoor shows at Handle Bar in Bendigo, The Barwon Club in Geelong, Archies Creek Hotel, Halls Gap Hotel, Dart and Marlin in Warrnambool, Fowles Wine in Avenel, and The Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine.

As well as celebrating the return of live music to regional Victoria, Play On will provide a welcome boost to local businesses and tourism across the state. The events be delivered in line with each venue’s COVIDSafe Plan approved by the Chief Health Officer, and the settings on Victoria’s Roadmap to Deliver the National Plan.

Minister for Creative Industries Danny Pearson - “These outdoor gigs will showcase many of regional Victoria’s best musicians and beloved venues – and will be a vital step in bringing live music back to our state and getting the industry back on its feet.”

“We’re making sure we have the best technology in place to get our great local events up and going again and make them run as smoothly as possible."

Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas - “This all-regional line up is a celebration of our amazing talent across Victoria. These incredible artists will light up outdoor stages at some of our favourite regional venues and give us a taste of exciting times ahead.”

“I encourage music fans across Victoria to get involved and support the safe return of live music.”

Music lovers attending Play On will be asked to show they’re fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 digital certificate displayed through the Service Victoria app, Medicare app, or equivalent smartphone wallet. They can also present a printed version of their certificate or immunisation history statement or provide evidence of a valid exemption. Masks will need to be worn.
