YouTube workshops delivered online

The VMDO are very proud to announce Victoria’s Digital Creator Program delivered by Changer Studios, supported by the Victorian Government. The program includes a series of free online workshops designed to help you get the most out of YouTube and is part of a new partnership between the VMDO, Film Victoria and Creative Victoria.

Initially a response to the findings of last year’s VMDO Consumer Insights Study, which highlighted the importance of video streaming for discovery and ongoing engagement with music, the timing of this program with its focus on digital paths to consumers is even more vital to music business right now.

Bonnie Dalton, VMDO General Manager, says digital paths to audiences and consumers are more vital than ever as we find ourselves more self-isolated.

“The devastating impacts of this change to our industry is well documented in figures from LPA, through websites like ilostmygig.com.au (if you haven’t already, please add your story there) and mostly through talking to anyone and everyone in the industry.”

“We are extremely cognisant of those impacts and working across all levels of the industry and government to advocate for the entirety of our music ecosystem here in Victoria and beyond. The pathways though that do exist right now between music creators and music lovers are still very much in place in the digital space and research company Midia said only a few days ago that, ‘whether it be subscriptions or ad-supported, coronavirus may actually benefit streaming business models, especially video’. With that in mind, the VMDO are very proud to announce these workshops,” she says.

The program will feature 10 online workshops across as part of the 2020 Digital Innovation Festival. All of the workshops will be of benefit to music creators and their teams, with a particular focus on music content to be delivered on April 23. There will also be a world-first YouTube creator accelerator four-week program for advanced creators to scale their content businesses. The 2020 program kicks off with a workshop in Melbourne on Thursday 19th March, teaching creators how to build diverse revenue streams to leverage their YouTube content.

Due to the risks associated with spreading COVID-19, we have decided that these workshops and event will be held as online virtual events with guest speakers and interactivity.

After all, one great advantage of this new generation of content creation is that you can do it anywhere. So it makes sense you can learn how’s to do it successfully through online events.
