Supporting Victorian's to attend SXSW Online 2021

The Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) has partnered with Creative Victoria to deliver a virtual delegation, supporting twenty Victorian music industry professionals to attend SXSW Online 2021.

For the creative industries, SXSW is recognised as the premier global conference for music, film and interactive media. SXSW Music Festival is a melting pot of artists and music professionals and has a reputation for supporting business opportunities on the world stage. For the first time in 2021, SXSW will be delivered entirely online. Taking place from March 16-20, the digital experience will bring delegates the benefits of sessions, film festival screenings, music showcases, networking and exhibitions.

Musician, author, actor, entrepreneur, and activist Willie Nelson has been announced as a keynote speaker and other featured music industry speakers include Mary J. Blige, The Chainsmokers, Cherie Hu, Jon Platt, Carole King and many more. Confirmed showcasing Victorian artists include: Alexander Biggs, Alice Skye, Baker Boy, Beans, Didirri, Hachiku, Kee’ahn, Luke Howard, The Merindas and Shannen James.

The VMDO are now accepting applications for a funded delegate badge (worth USD $399 at the full rate) from Victorian music industry professionals. Applicants should be established within the music industry, with a minimum of 3 years experience. This opportunity is best suited to businesses/music industry professionals who are export ready and are clear on what they want to achieve by attending SXSW Online 2021.

Applications close at 5.00pm AEST on Thursday 4th March 2021

This opportunity is open to music industry professionals residing and operating in Victoria. Successful applicants will need to:

• Commit to attending SXSW Online in real time (March 16-20) and actively participate in the conference

• Attend the VMDO Official SXSW Event, on Thursday 18th March at 9.00am AEDT (Online)

• Complete a 20-minute survey at the completion of SXSW Online 2021, reflecting on outcomes achieved
