Expressions Of Interest Now Open For Music Data & Insights Summit 2026

The Victorian Music Development Office invites researchers, industry, data analysts and policymakers to submit proposals for presentations at the Music Data & Insights Summit 2026.

This two-day event will gather national and international experts to explore how data, research and evidence-driven practice are shaping the future of the music industry in Australia.

The summit will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, academic papers, case studies and applied industry presentations.

Submission Types

The summit welcomes a range of submission formats:

  • Academic Papers (25-minute presentations)

  • Industry Case Studies & Demonstrations

  • Short Talks/Lightning Presentations (7–10 minutes)

  • Panel Proposals (45–60 minutes, including moderator)

  • Workshops or Technical Sessions (60–90 minutes)

  • Other (describe)

Interdisciplinary and collaborative submissions are encouraged.

Submission Requirements

Please provide the following information:

  1. Your name and institution (if relevant)

  2. State 

  3. Title of presentation

  4. Theme(s) addressed

  5. Abstract (250–300 words) outlining aims, methods, insights and relevance

  6. Short bio (100 words) for each proposer

  7. What is your preferred presentation format

  8. Any other relevant information

Submissions should clearly articulate how the proposal contributes new knowledge, practical insight or applied value for the music sector in Victoria and internationally.

Speakers will be paid a set fee and may negotiate travel support upon request.

Call for Papers Opens: 16 December 2025

  • Last Submission Deadline: 16 February 2026 

  • Final Invitations: March 2026

  • Summit Dates: 18-19 May 2026

The VMDO may make offers prior to 16 February. Please make all submissions via the portal.
