What is synchronisation and why is this important?
In music a crucial element of both income and visibility for artists. Synchronisation or ‘sync” for short is worth over $64m in 2025 for Australian artists (The Bass Line, Music Australia) and is the process of pairing music with visual content.
Do I need to ask permission if I would like to use a song or work?
Yes, the work on the DISCO platform exists under the protection of the Australian Copyright Act and is subject to the terms of the legislation. You will need to get permission from the owner of both the musical work and the recorded work, or their agent. For more information, go to artslaw.com.au
How do I know who the copyright owners are?
