An Introduction to Public Speaking

Public speaking can be daunting, but it doesn't need to be. Experienced public speaker Chris Carey gives an overview of the key do's and don'ts, in a relaxed environment.

Whether you are a seasoned pro who wants a different perspective or new speaker or just taking your first steps, you are very welcome. The session is aimed at music professionals and artists. We won’t cover stage craft/reading the room in any creative way! But if you want to sharpen your public speaking then please do join us!

Presented by FastForward and Live Nation, in partnership with VMDO and hosted at UNIFIED (51 Wangaratta St, Richmond. Melbourne, VIC 3121), the hour long session promises to be a lighthearted introduction and refresher to a scary subject.

This is a free event, but bookings are essential.

Chris Carey is speaking at CHANGES (July 3/4 at Abbotsford Convent) as a Critical Thinker for the Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO)

A Conversation Via Mulatu Astake & Friends

Join us for an intimate conversation via Ethio-Jazz great, Mulatu Astake and Melbourne-based friends and collaborators, Black Jesus Experience.

In this initial iteration of an ongoing series of up-close and personal yarns, we explore Astake’s illustrious musical career and his relationship with global communities.

Since the 1970s, his work had seeded his role as an influential figure of the global Jazz community. However, thanks to the Ethiopiques series of reissue albums, and the subsequent use of his music in the Jim Jarmusch film Broken Flowers, Mulatu Astatke became an international star.  Your ears are likely to be familiar with the track Yègellé Tezeta.

Proudly presented by VIA Planet Earth and Voice For Change, in partnership with the VMDO and Immigration Museum Melbourne. This evening takes place prior to Astake’s final Australian tour in conjunction with longtime collaborators Black Jesus Experience and the release of their forthcoming album, To Know Without Knowing.
